Veterans In Politics- Season 4, Episode 3 with David Richmond CBE
Retired Colonel David Richmond CBE, a former Commanding Officer of 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq and subsequently became the Recovery Director at Help for Heroes, was the first appointed head of the UK's Office for Veterans Affairs.
He now sits as the Government's Independent Advisor on veterans, at the heart of decision making, influencing politicians and working with civil servants across government. He is also the country's most senior ranked injured veteran from the Afghanistan conflict, something we touch upon in this episode.
Our host first met David working together on the cross-sector campaign Veterans Work. So it was a delight for them to sit down and chat about one side of public life less known to veterans and the public at large. It proves that veterans can stand up and serve again in many guises and we are extremely grateful to David for sharing his story.
