Veterans In Politics- Season 7, Episode 5- Cllr Chris 'Chalky' Mitchell - Former REME Officer and now a Council Leader in Worcester for the Conservatives.
Chalky was introduced to the show by a mutual veteran friend. This is the first time that we have had the privilege of interviewing a leader of a local authority so couldn't resist the opportunity to ask about the transferable leadership skills of veterans into local politics.
By his own admission, Chalky doesn't get into the whole party political ding dong, which is just as well, as he leads a Conservative Group in a technical coalition with another party.
This is a great run through of someone who had a decent military career and was simply asked to stand at an event. We need to ask more veterans like Chalky to stand up and serve again!
